2020 was marked by mass deaths, pivotal elections, climate chaos, a historic wave of Black-led uprisings against police violence, coup d’etats, labor strikes, and a resurgent right. Colliding with preexisting economic and climate crises, the global pandemic ushered in a “new normal” for a Left that rejected these conditions as intolerable. What lessons from the chaotic year can we draw to transform the current political terrain?
Join Center for Political Education for a conversation with movement leaders to interrogate the new normal and learn how social justice movements are adapting to the shifting terrain.
Speakers Include:
- Amna Akbar, movement lawyer and professor of law at Ohio State University
- Cindy Wiesner, Grassroots Global Justice Alliance
- Isaac Ontiveros, National Nurses United
- Vanessa Moses, Causa Justa/ Just Causa
