Reading Black Reconstruction Session 3

April 5, 2017
Chapters 7-8

Facilitated by Phil Hutchings, Black Alliance for Just Immigration

The following materials were offered to participants after the class to supplement the group discussion.  Video of this session is below.

In his powerful presentation to the Reading Black Reconstruction study group,  Phil Hutchings mentioned two books that he thought were good complements to Black Reconstruction. One is Un-American W.E.B. DuBois and the Century of World Revolution by Bill V. Mullen. The other is The Black Jacobins: Toussiant L’Ouverture and the San Domingo Revolution by C.L. R. James.

If you haven’t already seen Phil’s presentation at CPE’s recent conference, “People Get Ready: Building Resistance in the Trump Era,” we’d encourage you to check out his presentation there, which covers some of the same themes.  Click Here to watch Phil Hutchings and others talk about Fascism, Imperialism, and White Supremacy in the Trump Era.
